About a week or so ago I was contacted by a very sweet lady to create a garden for her cottage dollhouse. We decided on several types of flowers and I got to work. Her garden will have Hollyhocks, Foxglove, Snapdragons, Poppies, Cosmos and Delphinium. I have a good chunk of the flowers finished, minus the leaves, so I made a little mock up of how the garden might look once I'm all finished. Everything except the delphinium are there. I did a little test to figure out how to make the delphinium flowers. The colors are going to change slightly. All blue and a little brighter, but I think they turned out well.
I began working on a small summer garden this weekend. I wanted to use a lot of daisies, maybe sunflowers and some black eyed Susan's. Then I thought I might add a blue flower since I figured it would look nice with all the white and yellow. This, of course, necessitated a long Pinterest search which, after many distractions, resulted in choosing Campanula. There are many varieties, but the type I chose are taller and have sort of scooped star shaped flowers. Below are pictures of progress and then the final results. I hope you enjoy!
Hello!
Thanks for checking out my blog. I'm fairly new to this, so bear with me as I work out the kinks. I started making miniature flowers about a year ago for a house I built. Recently, I have started making flowers to sell. You can find them on eBay. I start graduate school in a little over a year so I'm saving up every penny I make! I've started this blog a little bit for myself, sort of like a journal about my miniature making, but also because I thought maybe others would be interested in my process and seeing my new creations. Who knows, maybe I'll inspire someone else, just like many others blogs have inspired me. My flowers are made mostly from paper. I shape each petal or leaf with a stylus and glue them to the floral wire stems. Chalk pastels and watercolors are used to color the plants. Sometimes for the centers I use flocking, tacky glue, paint or a combination of all three. It can be tedious work, but I find it therapeutic. Even if I do have to take a lot of breaks to rest my eyes. Well, that's a little bit about me. I hope you come back to my blog soon. I'll be posting about some of the flowers I've been working on, and a special project I've been working on for a wonderful lady! |
AuthorHello! I'm Alex. I have been making all kinds of miniatures for about 5 years now. Recently I've moved from making dollhouses, to making flowers and plants to go inside and around them. When I'm not working I'm either making minis or playing with my two pups, Molly and Gav. All images of my work are copyrighted material. If you share a link or a photo through social media, I do ask you to please include credit to me or my website. Thank you for understanding.
